Venemergencia Group and Monteávila University Form Partnership to Make the Campus a Heart-Safe Zone

CARACAS, May 2026. — As part of the Venemergencia Foundation’s Public Access Defibrillation program, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) No. 35 was installed at the Lomas del Sol campus of Monteávila University (UMA). This joint effort raises safety standards and improves pre-hospital emergency response at the university, and with this installation, the campus officially joins Venemergencia’s network of cardioprotected spaces.

This milestone represents the consolidation of the institutional partnership established to strengthen healthcare with a long-term vision and ensure an immediate response to sudden cardiac death events. The strategic placement of this medical equipment at UMA ensures that the university community has the necessary tools to save lives in the first minutes of a cardiovascular emergency.

“For us, this is a perfect partnership between business and academia. By making the Monteávila University campus a cardio-protected zone, we are integrating cutting-edge technology and academic training to address the leading cause of death worldwide: cardiovascular disease. Our goal is to make public access defibrillation a daily reality throughout the country,” said Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, founding partner and CEO of Grupo Venemergencia.

Health Infrastructure and Remote Medical Support

As a complementary pillar to cardioprotection, the university’s new Nursing Service was launched. For this facility, Venemergencia has provided the necessary clinical equipment, including the delivery of stretchers to facilitate primary care.

A key aspect of this service is that it will have remote medical support from Venemergencia. Through telephone medical guidance, staff will be able to conduct real-time consultations for cases requiring additional evaluation or authorization of prescription treatments, ensuring rapid and timely care for students, faculty, and administrative staff.

Training as First Responders

The strategic alliance between the two institutions goes beyond physical infrastructure to focus on training the university community as first responders through various training sessions. The immediate goal is to incorporate the elective course on Immediate Medical Care (AMI), taught by the Venemergencia Foundation and already offered at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), Metropolitan University (UNIMET), and Santa María University (USM), into the university’s academic curriculum.
