The story of Venemergencia began in July 2004, when Drs. Andrés Simón González-Silén and Luis Enrique Velásquez Díaz, inspired by their experience in hospitals, decided to take action in response to the collapse of the Venezuelan healthcare system. They identified an urgent need: to train citizens in first aid and provide timely medical care to save more lives.
With this vision, they devised an emergency response model that would prevent unnecessary visits to clinics and hospitals. Thus, they began by teaching first aid courses and offering paramedic services at events and camps, paving the way for what is now a robust ecosystem of primary healthcare in Venezuela.
Every milestone in Venemergencia’s history has been marked by a strong commitment to innovation.
Pioneers in Telemedicine: We created the first value-based primary care model, integrating telemedicine and emergency response.
Professionalization of Emergency Response: Through programs such as PAME, PAMI, and Community Brigades, led by the Venemergencia Foundation, we promote the training of first responders.
Healthcare Inclusion: Through Vida Insurtech, we provide access to health insurance for people over the age of 75, including migrant families throughout the region.
Crisis response: During the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed the COVID-19 Telehealth Platform to assist more than 20,000 Venezuelans both within and outside the country.
Pioneers of the URGENT CARE model: We introduced one of Venezuela’s leading urgent care networks, bringing high-quality medical care to more people.
Cardiac-Safe Zones: Through the Venemergencia Foundation, we promote the installation of defibrillators in public spaces.
Each project reinforces our commitment to transforming healthcare in Venezuela.
Upon graduation, the founders turned their startup into a solid company: Venemergencia. Starting with over 100 employees, they committed to professionalizing their operations and focusing on the insurance sector, offering telemedicine, home care, and transportation services, always prioritizing quality and efficiency.
The use of data allowed us to design cost-effective solutions that today benefit more than 30,000 people each month, keeping alive the purpose that has inspired us from the very beginning.
The year 2023 marked a significant milestone in Venemergencia’s history with the opening of its first Urgent Care center in Caracas, solidifying a vital service within its primary care ecosystem. Looking ahead to the end of 2025, the organization will have seven urgent care centers and a network of strategically located partner clinics to optimize access to healthcare services for the Venezuelan population.
Today, we are a company with more than 900 direct employees, committed to humanizing medical care through innovative solutions that provide comprehensive relief to Venezuelans when they need it most. Values such as quality, trust, innovation, and determination continue to define every step we take.
