Venemergencia Foundation

We believe and we act

Since its founding in 2011, the Venemergencia Foundation has been working to transform Venezuela’s healthcare system, specifically by developing initiatives that combine healthcare, education, and technology, and by forging tripartite partnerships to maximize the positive impact on the communities where we operate.

Mission

Transforming the system from the grassroots level to improve access to healthcare through education.

Vision

To be a leader in the development of community development programs aimed at improving access to healthcare.

Our History

Thirteen years after our founding, we have certified more than 8,000 people as first responders for medical emergencies, completed 10 cohorts of the diploma program for the Training of Emergency Medical Aid Providers (PAME), established partnerships with Simón Bolívar University, Andrés Bello Catholic University, Metropolitan University, and Monte Ávila University, and introduced innovations such as the launch of the Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program.

At the Venemergencia Foundation, we have been developing an ecosystem in which the triad of Business, Government, and Society feed into one another in the pursuit of the common good.

Objectives of the foundation

• Conceptualize, develop, and implement training programs, in partnership with the country’s leading educational institutions, to promote certification among citizens, ranging from first responders to technical staff in the field of emergency response.

• Establish a pathway for emergency response personnel to enter the labor market by forming partnerships with private companies and government institutions.

• Promote research and participate in the development and implementation of public policies aimed at the prevention and proper management of medical emergencies.

• Promote the dissemination of up-to-date scientific knowledge.

• Promote the exchange of scientific knowledge with national and international organizations.

• Organize intensive courses and refresher and advanced training seminars in the field of emergency response medicine.

Public-private partnerships

The Venemergencia Foundation encourages inter-institutional collaboration with the aim of developing healthcare ecosystems that have a social impact and promoting public policies focused on the prevention and proper management of medical emergencies.

TAP: Telemedicine Access for the Public

Through Fundación Venemergencia, we provide a free platform that expands access to healthcare across Venezuela

By calling 0212-822.12.62, any Venezuelan can receive medical guidance from a physician who, based on an assessment of signs and symptoms, will advise on what to do and may even prescribe medication in specific cases.

Educational campaigns on first aid

At the Foundation, we include all the communities where we operate—schools, college students, and employees (corporate teams)—in our training program to save lives through first aid courses. In this way, we prepare our people to become first responders.

Public Access Defibrillation Program (PAD)

This program promotes the creation of cardiac-safe zones (public and private spaces equipped with the necessary equipment and staffed by trained personnel to respond to cardiac emergencies), thereby increasing the chances of survival for those affected.

Our program is built on these three fundamental pillars:

AED Installation: We install Automated External Defibrillators.
Monitoring: We ensure they function properly and coordinate so that our emergency response team is just a phone call away.
Training: We prepare communities by training them to act as first responders and save lives.

Every minute counts
Without early emergency response, the chances of survival decrease by 10 to 12% per minute. We are pioneers in the development of cardioprotected zones in Venezuela.

Health Fair + Mobile Clinic

The health outreach events we hold at the Foundation are designed to assist and guide communities. We provide general medical consultations and conduct epidemiological surveillance for chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.

To carry out our clinics, we use our mobile clinic, a unit equipped with two examination rooms that allows us to bring medical care to every corner of the community.

In line with the principles of quality health services outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO), each consultation lasts an average of 25 minutes per patient, allowing us to see 4 people per hour.

Training at Fundación Venemergencia: The Path to Becoming a Professional First Responder

“It’s a great opportunity to work as a paramedic and put into practice many procedures that most of us should know but don’t—and that are important for saving lives.”
