Caracas, November 25, 2025.— The Comprehensive Medical Assistance (AMI) elective, offered by the Venemergencia Foundation, has established itself as one of the most highly valued courses among students at the Metropolitan University (UNIMET), according to the results of the 2025 Strategic Interest Study conducted by the Department of Humanities and Education Sciences. Applied to incoming students, the analysis revealed high demand for areas related to health and well-being, nutrition education, and AMI, confirming the relevance and importance of this training in the university setting.
The course, which has been part of UNIMET’s academic offerings since January 8, 2024, features a theoretical-practical approach that allows students to acquire fundamental knowledge in emergency medical response. The AMI elective is taught by medical surgeons who graduated from the Central University of Venezuela and maintain up-to-date standards in health and primary care, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their professional profile beyond their area of specialization.
For Andrea Galarraga, Director of Sustainability at Venemergencia, these partnerships represent a strategic opportunity to maximize social impact. “Teaching the AMI elective allows us to raise awareness among Venezuelan society by engaging university students, with a clear message about the importance of the citizen’s role—independent of the healthcare system—as a first responder, which has enabled us to make a significant impact on reducing morbidity and mortality.”
To date, the course has trained three cohorts and nearly 100 students who promote a culture of prevention and civic responsibility.
With this initiative, Fundación Venemergencia reaffirms its commitment to education and the promotion of academic partnerships that strengthen access to healthcare for all Venezuelans.
