In response to the emergency caused by the earthquakes in the country, the organization launched a ground and air operation in collaboration with the public sector, the private sector, and academia to safeguard the lives of those affected.
July 16, 2026.—Nearly three weeks after the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, Grupo Venemergencia provided a comprehensive healthcare and humanitarian response by coordinating partnerships between the private and public sectors to assist the hardest-hit communities.
From the very first hours of the emergency, the organization activated a national contingency operation as members of the Capital Association of Clinics and Hospitals and in response to the call from the Ministry of Popular Power for Health, to strengthen patient care capacity and coordinate medical resources in the face of increased demand for care: Thanks to a partnership with Trailstart, a partner of Amazon Web Services (AWS), they expanded publicly accessible telemedicine services offering medical guidance over the phone and opened the doors of their Urgent Care emergency rooms to treat those affected by the earthquake at no cost. As part of the evolving response, Grupo Venemergencia incorporated air rescue and evacuation capabilities into its operations for the first time by deploying two Bell LongRanger 206L helicopters, significantly expanding its capacity for aeromedical transport of critically ill patients and support for rescue teams, particularly in La Guaira state. This operation also received support from CAF Development Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean and Yummy.
To reinforce this commitment, Grupo Venemergencia joined forces with Farmatodo and the Ministry of Popular Power for Health to launch a mass vaccination campaign in Caraballeda, La Guaira. This initiative aims to protect 1,500 people by providing priority access to tetanus toxoid vaccinations for our rescue workers and military personnel who are working tirelessly in the area. Recognizing the importance of this preventive measure, we will also extend this benefit starting July 18 at our Urgent Care locations; there, the entire population will have access to the tetanus toxoid vaccine, with a special emphasis on providing convenient access and priority care to all rescue workers who require this immune booster.
Aware that an emergency of this magnitude also leaves deep emotional scars, Grupo Venemergencia developed a specialized telepsychology service in partnership with Psicodata at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB) and Trailstart, offering professional psychological care via WhatsApp to provide timely support to those affected. This service has assisted more than 300 people since its launch. WhatsApp number: 0422-0351828.
Venemergencia’s response has been characterized by a broad network of multisectoral partnerships: academic institutions, private companies, and specialized organizations joined forces to complement technical and operational capabilities and put them at the service of Venezuelans. Notable among them are: CAF—Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, Lloyd Aviation, Trailstart, Psicodata UCAB, CAVEJA, Yummy, Kumis ULA, Coesbicop at the University of Carabobo, the Santiago de León Clinic in Caracas, Cestaticket, and Banco del Libro, forming a collaborative network focused on expanding access to medical care, psychosocial support, logistics, and essential services.
All these initiatives have been made possible thanks to a coordination model that combines Grupo Venemergencia’s operational capacity with the commitment of the Venemergencia Foundation, which is responsible for coordinating the work of more than 600 volunteers currently participating in community support, logistics, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance efforts in various affected areas.
The response deployed demonstrates a comprehensive approach that goes beyond addressing the immediate emergency: it incorporates air rescue, pre-hospital care, telemedicine, mental health, technological innovation, inter-institutional coordination, and volunteer mobilization, showing how collaboration between the private sector, academia, social organizations, and public agencies can have a significant impact on the country’s disaster response capacity.
Grupo Venemergencia remains on standby as the coordinating center for the health care response to those affected, with both ground and air operations, coordinating various service providers, and will continue to save lives and support Venezuela at every stage of the recovery.
