The Caridad del Cobre Church is now a heart-safe zone

Caracas, March 8, 2026.– In a new step toward strengthening heart-safe spaces, the Venemergencia Foundation donated its 31st Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the community of the Nuestra Señora de la Caridad del Cobre Church, located in the Santa Paula neighborhood of El Cafetal, during a community event that brought together parishioners, neighbors, and local authorities.

The AED, installed thanks to a joint effort between the Venemergencia Foundation, the parish, and Baruta Municipality Councilman Luis Aguilar, represents an improvement in the community’s ability to respond to cardiovascular emergencies.

During the installation ceremony, Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, founding partner and executive director of Venemergencia, highlighted: “Fifteen years ago, we created the Venemergencia Foundation with the goal of improving access to healthcare for all Venezuelans. Today we can proudly say that we now have 31 defibrillators installed in public spaces, within reach of the communities.”

Likewise, Baruta Municipality Councilman Luis Aguilar highlighted the impact of this initiative on local residents: “It is very important to us that our communities are prepared to respond to medical emergencies. Thanks to the joint effort with the Venemergencia Foundation and the parish, today the residents of this area have a tool that can make a difference in saving lives.”

The Public Access Defibrillators (DAP) program continues to expand in Venezuela

In this context, the Public Access Defibrillators (DAP) program has already been implemented at the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria in Caracas; the Church of Santa Rosa in Lara state; the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá in Zulia state; and now at the Church of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre in Caracas.

More communities protected against cardiovascular emergencies

The installation of this defibrillator reflects the Venemergencia Foundation’s ongoing commitment to working alongside communities to promote access to training, technology, and life-saving resources.
