Barquisimeto, December 19, 2025.—The Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program of the Venemergencia Foundation has arrived in Barquisimeto thanks to a partnership with La Pastoreña and Lozada Colmenares y Asociados. On Friday, December 19, the first automated external defibrillator was installed near the Santuario de la Divina Pastora, located in the Santa Rosa parish of Barquisimeto.
With this donation, the sanctuary and its surroundings are now a cardio-protected zone, significantly improving the community’s ability to respond to cardiovascular emergencies.
The partnership between Fundación Venemergencia, La Pastoreña, and Lozada Colmenares y Asociados aims to protect and strengthen the community’s health by fostering collaboration between the private sector and nonprofit organizations in support of the collective well-being.
Following a Thanksgiving Mass during which the automated external defibrillator was presented as an offering, the installation was officially marked. During the ceremony, Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, founding partner and executive director of Venemergencia, highlighted the importance of the AED program for the country and the positive impact of strategic partnerships for the benefit of the community: “This achievement has been made possible thanks to the joint effort between the private sector and the Church to provide greater access to healthcare for Venezuelans. For the Venemergencia Foundation, having brought our AED program to the Sanctuary of the Divine Shepherdess represents another step forward in fulfilling our mission and in our ongoing commitment to building a country with cardiac protection.”
As part of the event, Basic Life Support courses were provided to community members, security personnel, and individuals active in the parish. This training was essential to equip them with the necessary tools to act as first responders in the event of a cardiac emergency and ensure the effective use of the AED.
For her part, Mariel Delgado, Innovation Manager at Lozada Colmenares y Asociados, stated that: “It is deeply gratifying to work on behalf of the Barquisimeto community, which has always shown us its affection and trust, and at the same time to join forces with the Venemergencia Foundation to help spread the necessary knowledge that enables communities to act promptly in the event of a medical emergency.”
With this installation, Fundación Venemergencia continues to expand its Public Access Defibrillation Program, which now has 29 active devices available in high-impact locations, including the headquarters of El Sistema, the Teresa Carreño Theater, and the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Church in Caracas; the University of Carabobo and the Basilica of Chiquinquirá in Maracaibo. Likewise, various public squares and spaces in the municipalities of Chacao, Baruta, El Hatillo, and Libertador, as well as several private companies, have been designated as heart-safe zones thanks to the institutional partnerships of the Venemergencia Foundation, which have realized the goal of providing greater access to healthcare for all Venezuelans.
