Caracas, May 19 – Committed to creating safe spaces and with the goal of improving access to healthcare for all Venezuelans, the Venemergencia Foundation unveiled a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the capital city. This device is the 33rd installed by the institution, this time in partnership with Metromedia and the Caracas Metro. Thus, the busy La Hoyada station is officially part of Grupo Venemergencia’s Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program.
The inauguration event was attended by representatives of the subway system and members of the foundation’s team. With this step, one of the city’s busiest stations becomes a benchmark for public safety and preventive health for the thousands of users who pass through its facilities daily.
Medical technology at the heart of the city
During the event, Caracas Metro officials highlighted the impact of this initiative at such a key hub of mass transit, emphasizing the value of having cutting-edge medical technology available to the public to address critical situations immediately.
For his part, Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, founding partner and CEO of Venemergencia, highlighted the social impact of this achievement: “Installing AED number 33 at the La Hoyada station of the Caracas Metro is a historic step for Venemergencia. A modern city is not only measured by its infrastructure, but by its ability to care for the lives of its people; this project reflects our responsibility to actively contribute to addressing real needs and building a more humane and prepared Venezuela.”
Training for Frontline Staff
As an integral part of the event, the Venemergencia Foundation conducted Basic Life Support courses for the station’s operational and security staff, as well as for all Metro system users who came to interact with the simulators to learn how to perform CPR. These hands-on sessions provided training to the Caracas Metro team and security agencies stationed there on how to respond promptly to a cardiovascular emergency by correctly using the AED.
With this new cardiac-protected zone, the Venemergencia Foundation continues to strengthen its social impact programs. This inauguration not only marks the installation of the 33rd AED but also reaffirms the institution’s commitment to continuing its work across Venezuela, implementing innovative solutions, and uniting efforts to positively transform the well-being and safety of all Venezuelans.
