Venemergencia led the medical operation at the 2026 CAF Marathon

Caracas, February 2026.—Venemergencia led the comprehensive medical response operation during the 10th edition of the 2026 CAF Marathon, held on Sunday, February 8, ensuring the safety, prevention, and timely care of more than 10,000 runners who participated in the 10K, 21K, and 42K races.

The race passed through the municipalities of Libertador, Chacao, Baruta, and Sucre, starting from Los Caobos Park. The finish line for the 10K category was at Multiplaza El Paraíso, while the 21K and 42K races ended back at Los Caobos Park.

Training and Preparation for Runner Care

As part of the medical operation planning, Venemergencia led the Medical Refresher Course for runner care, a training session aimed at strengthening the preparation of the medical, paramedical, and volunteer staff who participated in covering the event.

During the course, key aspects related to care at long-distance races were addressed, such as early identification of injuries, heat-related conditions and dehydration, basic life support, use of the automated external defibrillator (AED), and comprehensive management of medical emergencies at large-scale sporting events. This training enabled the team to align clinical and operational criteria with international standards, reinforcing a preventive and efficient approach for race day.

An Unprecedented Human and Operational Deployment

The medical operation involved 10 departments from Venemergencia, comprising administrative staff, nurses, doctors, and paramedics, for a total of 153 volunteers strategically deployed along the course.

A medical aid station was set up every five kilometers, in addition to a main tent at the start and finish of the marathon in Los Caobos Park and another at the finish of the 10K at Multiplaza El Paraíso. Likewise, medical tents were set up at the 25- and 35-kilometer marks of the course, reinforcing response capacity during the most physically demanding sections for the runners.

Thanks to this deployment, the Venemergencia team was able to treat a total of 537 patients, ensuring timely and continuous care throughout the event.

Partnerships for a Comprehensive Response

The medical operation for the 2026 CAF Marathon was made possible by the coordinated efforts of Venemergencia, CAF, Mercantil Seguros, and various security and response agencies, including the Fire Department, Civil Protection, Salud Chacao, Ven 911, Vías Rápidas paramedics, and Ángeles de la Autopista, forming a comprehensive care system to respond effectively to any contingency.

With this deployment, Venemergencia reaffirms its commitment to prevention, timely medical care, and safety at large-scale events, supporting runners before, during, and after the 2026 CAF Marathon, and contributing to the development of safe and responsible sporting activities in the country.
